Making A Difference In Our Community
Supporting the Teachers and Students at
Arthur & Polly Mays Conservatory of the Arts
Our latest project includes supporting the 6-12 grade magnet students at Arthur & Polly Mays 6-12 Conservatory of the Arts in Goulds, FL. In just a few months, our Club has been able to provide over $9,000 of in-kind donations that have helped the students succeed in both their art magnet programs and academic subjects.

Our current focus is fundraising for instrument supplies and uniforms for their marching band.
Local High School Project Up-Start
Project Up-Start is one of our signature projects. The local high school we support has over 100 students, at any given time, designated as Project UP-Start – which is a government program for students with unstable housing.
Homelessness can range from living in a shelter to living on a friend’s couch to living in a car. The volume of students
in this position at this one high school is overwhelming. Our club supports this cause in various ways throughout the year.
Our club delivers pantry food every two weeks throughout the school year and provides clothing items, school uniforms, and toiletries as needed.

AP Mays Garden Project
On November 9, 2024, the Rotary Club of Perrine-Cutler Ridge/Palmetto Bay embarked on an inspiring initiative to establish edible gardens in underserved areas of south Miami-Dade County. We commenced this initiative at Arthur & Polly Mays 6-12 Conservatory of the Arts, a nationally recognized public school of excellence in an under-resourced area. Each stage of the garden's creation—planning and planting—was a community effort. Our “Garden Day” brought together our Club, Barbara McAdam, a horticulturist from the University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Miami-Dade Extension Center, consultants from the Little River Cooperative, our two Interact clubs, and several students, parents, and teachers from AP Mays. Our goal is to create a sustainable food source, promote hands-on learning, and enhance nutritional awareness among students.
